This is an extension of a building built 100 years ago in the district of Lavapiés in Madrid. The resulting building has 6 floors after demolishing one and adding 3 new floors. The structure is a combination of CLT with laminated timber beams of the same wood genus and interspersing Quiet Joints?.

JTO developed the project between 2019 and 2020 and it was supervised by architects Pedro García & Miguel Ángel Acebal of Arquitectos A&G.

The total built-up area is 1330m2 of which 2/3 correspond to the new structure.
A total of 310m3 of radiata pine as CLT panels was used in its construction and 3m3 of laminated timber generating a storage of 240 tons of CO2.

This building located in the heart of Madrid had an added complication in that there was little room for manoeuvre and the fact it was a reconstruction between party walls. However, the use of CLT panels for the structure execution enabled these obstacles to be overcome.
