The Egoin engineering team comprises over 25 professionals and has 30 years of expertise in the design, calculation, fabrication, and construction of timber structural solutions, and is one of the leading knowledge hubs for timber engineering in Spain and the south of Europe.

We annually deliver around 200 construction projects using different structural solutions locally in Spain and in other markets. We have an accumulated expertise of over 6,000 structural timber projects.

Our engineering and design teams have extensive expertise in timber construction detailing and engineering calculation using next-generation software in the form of Dlubal, Robot and Cadwork. This enables us to deliver the most appropriate solution to meet the clientsâ?? needs and budget. 

We collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to obtain environmental and energy efficiency certifications in the form of Leed, Breeam, Verde, Well or Passivhaus. We also work closely with universities, technology research centres, architectural and engineering firms and clients, to become their preferred consultants regarding timber structures and efficient low carbon solutions. Our understanding of low energy demand structures enables us to advise on and deliver buildings that meet Passivhaus standards.

Egoin believes in a partnership approach, where we work closely with the project stakeholders from early stage building concept to handover of the finished superstructure. Our clients value our guidance in all aspects of optimised design, and we help them target the building performance they are looking to achieve from the completed project.

Consultancy

To continue providing the best consultancy services, our engineers are committed to ongoing continuous professional development, keeping fully up to date with new regulations and changes in the building codes which impact on performance that may relate to fire, thermal, acoustic and in some cases seismic calculations. 

Being a vertically integrated business that engages with the project from primary 1st stage element manufacturing to installation final on the jobsite our engineers and designers are fully involved in the end-to-end process. This total visibility ensures that we are designing projects that can easily be built on site taking all aspect of the project into consideration whether it is delivery logistics or pragmatic and manageable site practices. 

Production

Our annual production capacity for different buildings system solutions is as follows:

  • Sawn timber for timber frame and post and beam systems 50,000 m3
  • Laminated beams 19,000 m3
  • Cross Laminated Timber 16000m3

All production facilities generate a percentage of waste fibre, and we ensure that we either convert this to energy to heat our plants thereby lowering our carbon footprint but where possible we also produce downstream products from the waste which are then sold into the biomass and agricultural sector.

Traditional structures using beams and columns is a core activity at Egoin. We have a production capacity of 7,000 m3 for post and beam structures, making Egoin the highest capacity producer in southern Europe. 

These framing applications are typically used in the refurbishment of private, public or heritage sector buildings, and for roofs and roofing applications in the residential sector. 

First stage production is undertaken at the Legutio production plant, with further downstream CNC machining and finishing completed at our Ea plant.

The laminated beams are machined to create traditional timber to timber assembly connections such as casings, mortice and tenons, half laps, as well as predrilled holes for timber or steel dowels or screws.

Logistics & Assembly

Logistics and site assembly is the culmination of the entire manufacturing, consultancy and engineering process. Site installation and logistics are typically managed by Egoin teams and ensures that construction detailing is correct and accurate and every aspect of the final delivery and handover of the project is taken into account.

This end-to-end integration, which is fully managed and executed by the various Egoin teams, helps us deliver tailor made solutions for the client that are designed appropriately and delivered in line with the project programme. There is seamless collaboration between our departments, delivering a critical clear path of single source communication with our clients at all stages of the project delivery.

Beam Element Supply & Timber Frame Kits

At Egoin we customise the supply service of materials for timber frame or the Mass Timber kit to each customer. This process includes supplying standard single beams and bespoke beam sections.

We offer consultancy and engineering services for timber construction professionals for timber frame kits so that our customers or their subcontractors can easily assemble the structures themselves, following the assembly instructions delivered with materials in the kit.

The kit supply services are tailored to each customerâ??s needs and can include all or some of the following.

  • Timber structure consultancy and engineering including collaboration from basic project concept to timber structure proposals.
  • Engineering calculations and supporting designs for timber structures.
  • Worksite dimensions.
  • Assembly drawings including project drawings, general diagrams and laminated detailed assembly layouts in A3.
