4 COOPERATIVE HOUSING UNITS
Egoin has participated in the construction of a unique building of 4 houses made of CLT wood in the Scottish city of Edinburgh, a project promoted by the Bath Street Collective Custom Build cooperative, made up of four families.
The objective of the project was to construct a high quality, custom-built building with high environmental standards but on a tight budget.
A 'shell and core' approach was adopted for its construction, so that each owner had the possibility to develop a design completely tailored to his short and long term needs.
The CLT structure was a key factor in this regard, because it eliminated the need to include structural walls between the central staircase and the exterior perimeter, which increased flexibility in the interior layout.
The Bath Street project, designed by John Kinsley Architects, has won several international architectural awards, including the RIAS and Timber Awards.
