MANSION HOUSE â?? Mansion House is a mid-rise, 6 storey private rental sector apartment building in New Islington, close to the centre of Manchester in the UK. The complex contains 40 apartments covering 3,800m2 and 800m2 of retail and commercial space at ground floor level. This modern and sustainable development built in a formerly run down area of Manchester is an exemplar of urban regeneration which is a trademark of the developer Urban Splash. With the exception of the steel staircase, the building uses Cross Laminated Timber throughout, with most of the walls and ceilings left exposed.

Vehicle Movement Reduction In many cases Mass Timber will compete with cementitious products. At circa 500kg per m3, CLT and Glulam is around five times lighter than concrete and four times lighter than structural block which typically results in 70-80% more mass volume delivered in every Mass Timber vehicle that goes to site and as an outcome reduces the heavy vehicle deliveries to and from the build location, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of the build, the social impact on the local community and alleviating site congestion. Using CLT in this project realised a 190 vehicle site movement reduction when building the superstructure.
