6 PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT DWELLINGS
At quick glance nobody would guess the Costa Street project is in the heart of a London district, since both its geometry and its brick, slate and timber based exterior are far removed from the classic aesthetics of terraced housing in the UK, cladded with classic London Stock brick in pale shades.
Nevertheless, this 6 house terraced block designed and built by WHAT Architecture studio with the collaboration of Egoin is in south London in the Peckham area, a district with imposing contrasts where the multicultural hustle and bustle co-exists with the residential area, while maintaining its typically British urban identity.
Its design can only be described as groundbreaking. Even though its exterior is predominantly black the developers have combined this with exposed CLT interiors, walls and ceilings to achieve a stark contrast with the surrounding environment. In addition, itâ??s got a very quirky geometry whose upper section has a trapezoid design, which reminds you of a sharkâ??s back fin.
CLT SOLUTION FOR A LONDON BUILDING WITH â??AVANT-GARDE GEOMETRYâ??. A BUILDING OF 6 TERRACED HOUSES WHICH COMBINE TIMBER, SLATE AND BLACK BRICK. THE CONSTRUCTION USES THE NEXT DOORâ??S BUILDING ATTIC AS A REFERENCE.
