35 PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT DWELLINGS
Egoin was involved in the construction of the private residential block comprising 35 flats and parking spaces, led by the Promociones Capdeferro and the Architecture Studio Bosch Capdeferro Arquitectos. The aim of the developers was to minimise the ecological footprint and energy demand, as well as regulate environmental hygrometry to maintain indoor air quality besides being resistant to horizontal movements caused by earthquakes. Radiata pine timber was used for this project, which was carried out pursuant to efficiency, flexibility and sustainability criteria. The 6 storey high building has a hybrid structure comprising radiata pine CLT panels, likewise laminated timber for pillars and beams using the same species. According to the project architect, Ramón Bosch, “wood allows for a major reduction in the ecological footprint in the construction process as a whole, since it is a renewable material as well as acting as a CO2 warehouse, The almost 1,000m3 of timber used in this building structure represents a fixation of nearly 800 tons of CO2.”
